There is someone way prettier than you.
There is someone who can sing better than you.
There is someone with more swag than you.
There is someone who can speak better than you.
There is someone with better style than you.
There is someone who can write better than you.
There is someone younger than you.
There is someone better than you.
There is someone with more followers than you
There is someone with more likes than you.
There is someone with better jokes than you.
And they are RIGHT behind you…
Creeping closer on your territory.

There is someone prettier than them.
There is someone who can sing better than them.
There is someone with more swag than them.
There is someone who can speak better than them.
There is someone with better style than them.
There is someone who can write better than you.
There is someone younger than them.
There is someone better than them.
There is someone with more followers than them
There is someone with more likes than them.
There is someone with better jokes than them.
And they are RIGHT behind them…
Creeping closer on their territory.

You will never win that race.
So give up that chase…

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future…” – The Lord

It’s better that way…

Great post bro! Every time I fall into that trap I am reminded that he is on the throne, not me!! Jeremiah 29:11

So we don’t run a race unless we are going to win or maintain/expand our “territory”? There is a linear and scarcity-oriented flavor to this…

      1 Corinthians 9:24
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.

      Philippians 3:14
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

racing and winning are only meaningful inasmuch as they are in relationship to Jesus. there are any other number of reasons to race.

i appreciate your sensitivity and attention to detail.

if it is merely about our “brand” then we should be quitting that to, but not just putting off idolatry, but putting on the Lord Jesus

comparing ourselves to others either produces pride or despair.

comparing ourselves to Jesus produces ONLY despari.

receiving by faith what is Jesus’, that which formerly produced despair, becomes our confidence and hope in having that which cannot be eclipsed: the finished work of Christ.

All the above may be true, but there’s no-one better at being me than… well… the guy who does that.

My favourite line firm a movie, even if it is spoken by a genocidal maniac: “I am who I am – someone has to be”.
