That’s a really inspiring and cool idea. I may try a reboot myself!
So cool, brother. Great idea. Hope you guys raise enough to clear the bills and to take that trip around the world. Thanks for sharing your stories with us bro.
Very good to hear. Reboots in life are essential I believe. Would love to hear updates on how it goes and how you begin to feel afterwards. My instinct says you will feel a sense of freedom, something of a release once “the stuff” is gone.
What is the address for the sale and times?
Amazing… the thought absolutely terrifies me and yet is so tempting…
Love it! What a great lesson/experience for your kids. I can’t wait to see what comes out of it!
If only someone wanted my cassette collection, I could pull this off.
Haven’t watched the video yet, btw, but I will when I’m off mobile. Godspeed and good luck, man. Decluttering has been a 5-year theme to my life.
Awesome man, you are and continue to be an inspiration to me. Especially were God has my wife and I lately. I hope God brings in a ton of money for your “stuff”.
I’m excited for your journey. Thanks for letting us watch and providing inspiration.
Sounds great! I think every family needs to do their own version of a reboot every now & again. But this video created a question for me: What song was playing in the background?
My new song “Love” on my upcoming record!
I’m pretty sure the only reason your computer works better after a reboot is because you own a Mac. At least that’s my experience .
But in all seriousness, this is spectacular and is needed not just in physical possessions, but our own spiritual/emotional baggage by giving it up to God. It’s amazing when we give up “stuff” in one area, how much easier it is to give it up in other areas of our lives.
I LOVE this idea. I keep trying to purge our house of “stuff” but it keeps coming back in. Love the idea of starting all over.
how are we supposed to find this epic event? will there be a blimp flying overhead? will Jon Acuff be directing traffic? would you email address please? what a fantastic idea!! thanks!
CRAIGSLIST! Find us! You will recognize us
as someone who is in the middle of my own personal reboot i say rock on!!!
LOVE this! A few years back, our family sold everything & only kept what we could keep in a 9X13 storage bin (yes…everyone thought we were crazy). We bought a conversion van & took a cross country trip. It was amazing! And one of the best things we’ve done as a family! Good luck to you…wish we were in Nashville to support your sale.
Last year my family gave everything away. It was pretty painful. For over a month we vowed not to repurchase anything. It was so exciting when we got to buy silverware and a pizza cutter! A few months later we bought an RV and moved into it full-time. We still just have 1 pot and and 1 pan. Even are kid ended up giving all his stuff away after he saw how we lived. We just enjoy the freedom we have now. For us, it helped us refocus on God and each other.
I have been learning that lately that stuff doesn’t mean a single thing! That’s awesome that you and your family will do this! I hope you can create many wonderful memories from this with your wonderful wife and kids!! I have been growing in love with your blog and twitter and instagram! Don’t even remember how I found you but I love what you have to say all the time!!!
Is Losiah for sale? Dibs.
Perfect timing!!! Our annual garage sale is in 2 weeks. I have been motivated, but now I am more motivated to get rid of STUFF!!! I want to help send my hubby and daughter to El Salvador with Compassion Int. I can’t wait!!

Haha! Brilliant. The most viral yardsale ever.
So… How did it turn out??
Cool idea! Especially creating moments…but as I thought about this for my own family, I see that I must live a different lifestyle…if we sold EVERYTHING we might get enough for one of us to take a trip 1/2 way around the world…for a day . Interested to hear how this journey impacts your family.
So… how’d it go?
I was just wondering the same thing. Please update when you get a chance!
Thanks for the inspiration! Dale, my husband, and I talk all the time about choosing to live simply and raising our family in a world where that isn’t even close to the “norm” and this is a great thing that we want to practice with our kids. We are moving next year and it’s a perfect time to reboot. Thank you for sharing! We are super curious how you’ve done since sharing this plan with the blog-world!
