I text while I drive.
I tweet while I drive.
People like me need to see this.
People like you need to see this.
It’s so hard in our society of instant gratification.

But my kids are worth it.

But the question is.. Will it change.. I’ve seen tonnes of these.. My dad is a cop and has told me stories like these.. I still do it.. I watch a video, I stop for a few days, then I do it again..

    What will you do Los?

Oprah’s “No Phone Zone” episode changed my habits forever. It is still available on her website. It’s so easy to think I’ll just do it quickly, it will be all right, but NOTHING is more important than the safety of you, your passengers and other road users. It’s very hard to stop though, I had to leave my phone in my purse in the back seat to avoid temptation.

In Sioux Falls, SD, just this week, a motorist drove through a busy intersection at twice the speed limit while texting. He ran into a truck, a van, and a motorcycle. The motorcyclist died the next day. The guy on the bike was 32. The guy in the car was 24. Too many ruined lives over a simple message. It hits close to home when you’ve spent years going through that intersection and all of a sudden see a “Why Die?” street sign go up.

That’s it. I’m out. July 30, 2012 is the day I quit texting and driving. My kids thank you.

Yes Los, please stop. For the sake not only of you, your wife and your kids, but for innocent passengers who might be in the car with you as well as other drivers on the road.

It’s not fair to kill someone because people can’t wait an extra 15 minutes to answer.

Alternatively, if people are that attached to their phones…use public transportation.

Saw this on the television the other night. Glad to see states making it an offense you can face heavy fines for. Repeat offenders need to face some suspensions also.

Thanks for sharing this. I saw part of this in a commercial the other night, but this really touched me. Why do I do this? It is so unlike me. Well I am done as of right now. I promise.
