I don’t feel like studying the Bible today.
I don’t feel like talking about my “feelings” with my counselor today.
I don’t feel like giving grace to those who give me none.
I don’t feel like spending time on my face before the Lord thanking Him for what I honestly wish was more.
I don’t feel like playing Barbies with my girls.
I don’t feel like playing cars with Losiah.
I don’t feel like taking the trash out for Heather.
I don’t feel like apologizing to the person who had no idea I was spitting hate their way yesterday.
I don’t feel like sending the email out to 20 friends inviting them to a BibleStudy that I don’t feel like waking up at 6:30 am to teach.
I don’t feel like talking to the high maintenance kid who wants to pick my brain.
I don’t feel like continuing to pursue Christ instead of self.

Then I remember…

Christ didn’t feel like being dragged onto a cross and sacrificing it all for my unwillingness to do everything I listed above.
But he did.

So I do.
And we do.
Push Past Self Today.

I’ve been having one of those “need to push past self” weeks. Thanks for the reminder!

Wow I haven’t been reading your blog for a while… started again about 10 blogs back. What happened? Is it just me or has God been doing something big in your life? Somehow your writings seem more Christ centered, honest. I love it!

I know you probably don’t mean it Los, but your concluding point sounds like a guilt-trip motivation. One that Nietzsche and the likes would call us Christ-followers ignorant for, by crediting our motivation to selflessness to something somebody (albeit divine) did 2000 years ago. I have all kinds of opposition to Nietzsche and the likes, but one of the high-schoolers in my YoungLife small group calls himself an atheist and is rubbing off on me to see the world through a non-Christian lens.

That was my thought when I read your post. Love you Los.
