Our Kidstuf Team filmed Heather and I talking about how we do our family nights and used it in last month’s Kidstuf.
Operation Family Blueprint is the theme for this summer.
Great idea to bring families together.

Be intentional.

I read through some of the posts on your wife’s blog awhile back about your family nights. Love it! Thanks for the example and encouragement.

It's nice to hear a little more background on your family nights and some practical advice for other families to do something similar. Very cool, man!

Whittakers – thank you for sharing this. My wife and I are adopting kids – hopefully in the next month or so – and this is totally a bookmarked post!

oookay… it cut off part of my comment. I also said, "It's encouraging to see a man leading his family and being a great dad," because seriously, that's not very common these days.

Awesome – I look forward to trying this stuff with my kids. It's definitely gret to think about how it's jsut aout being intentional with your time. Never thoguht of it that way…

Ok, so I've been reading yours and Heather's blogs since just before your Uganda/Compassion Trip. I think this is the first time I've heard Heather's voice! So sweet!!! It's great that you guys are so intentional about making memories. Take it from the mom of 3 girls who will turn 25, 21 and 18 this summer – it goes by much faster than you expect it will.

Your family is precious and all of the blogosphere thanks you for sharing!

Man we've been following this model ever since we saw it on Heather's blog and our Family Nights have been truly monumental in a very natural and simple kind of way. Thanks for leading worship with your life and not just your music.
God bless you and your family big time!

Dude. Family nights are awesome – however they come about and whatever they look like. My beautiful wife got the idea from @whittakerwoman and we've had some fun evenings. We're looking forward to the day when our little princesses will understand/appreciate the fun of the different.

For now, we just play and love and eat and laugh.

I love that you guys do this.
Growing up my family never did stuff like this. Don't get me wrong, I love my family…but that close-ness and intentionality just wasn't there.
Every time Heather posts about another family night I'm so excited!
Now that I'm married, I'm really looking forward to doing family nights when we have kids. I want to be intentional about spending time with them and making it fun and creative and interesting.
And I know my husband is especially excited to do this as well.
    Thanks for the awesome idea.

I wonder how many family nights result in Carlos "intentionally" cross-dressing? :)

We have done movie nights on the garage with the laptop projector on the notebook and chocolate fondue parties. We also have game nights where all we do is play multiple board and/or card games while shutting down all communication with the outside world. The girls take the initiative of deciding what board games to play. When my girls were younger I did tea parties with them as well as played dress up. Allowed them to paint my finger and toe nails too.

Our movie nights have become such a hit with our family that now our neighbors and their children are wanting to participate and it's a way for us to do family ministry with some of our friends in our small group. First one of the year is this coming Friday night.
